Thai Cabinet approves 3 stimulus packages for tourism industry

Deputy government spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul said the Cabinet in-principle approves the following 3 stimulus packages worth totaling Baht 22.4 billion as proposed by the Tourism and Sports Ministry. The program will run from July to October this year.
1 ‘Encouragement’ project – aims to subsidise domestic travelling expenses of public health volunteers and officials in sub-district hospitals with total 1.2 million people and estimated budget of Baht 2.4 billion. This subsidy is capped to Baht 2,000 per person for domestic travelling of at least 2 day one night package.
2 ‘WetravelTogether’ project - aims to subsidise accommodation expenses at 40% of room rates on co-sponsorship basis but not exceeding Baht 3,000 per night, capped up to 5 nights per person with estimated budget of Baht 18 billion with total 5 million nights. Thai tourists are responsible for the remaining 60%. Additionally, E-voucher through ‘PaoTang’ app of Baht 600 per night (capped at 5 nights) and privileges rights to buy round trip tickets at special prices.
3 ‘Travel with Happiness’ project – aims to subsidise domestic traveling expenses of at least 2 million persons through domestic air tickets, interprovincial bus fares and car rental expenses, on 40% co-sponsorship basis but not exceeding Baht 1,000 per person. This subsidy can be co-used between packages #2 and #3.
Thai people needs to register the above through Krung Thai Bank’s online platform and the bank is developing and preventing the system downtime. Details of the said packages will be re-proposed by Tourism Authority of Thailand within next two weeks.
