Govt to test re-opening of 8 businesses next week

Doctor Taweesin Visanuyothin, the spokesperson of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said the government will gather opinions for the second phase of business re-opening on 13 May and use a “sandbox” method to test the effectiveness of social distancing and other measures to prevent the further spread of infections.  Trial openings of department stores and other businesses are due  on 14-15 May.   If the results on Covid-19 preventive measures are satisfactory on 16 May, the  following 8 businesses will be allowed to re-open on 17 May.

1 Food shops/restaurants

2 Department stores

3 Health and body relaxation such as body massage, spa

4 Beauty institutes

5 Fitness/indoor sport fields/gym rooms

6 Meeting/seminar/training in conventional rooms, hotels, organisations

7 Movies studios/model shooting/clip

8 Amusement parks/water parks/playgrounds

 

The evaluation committee comprises of representatives from Interior Ministry, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Cultural Ministry, Health Enhancement and Support Fund Office, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Municipalities, Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, Association and Enterpreneurs in those 8 businesses, representatives from Public Health Ministry.
