PPPGC leverages SAP’s technologies by moving to Cloud

SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) announced that Thailand’s leading palm oil producer, PPP Green Complex (PPPGC) has gone live with SAP S/4HANA, a new digital core and selected Microsoft Azure, SAP hyperscaler partner, as its preferred cloud provider for SAP workloads. Running business-critical SAP workloads in the cloud would enable PPPGC to digitize core business processes across its value chain to achieve greater operational efficiencies and grow its business more sustainably.

Since its establishment in 2015, PPPGC, a joint venture between 3 leaders in Thailand’s palm oil industry including PTG Energy Public Company, Thachang Green Energy Co and RD Kasetpattana Co., has undergone several business transformations to become Thailand’s leading integrated and sustainable palm oil plantation, as well as palm oil products manufacturer, producing cooking oil and biodiesel. As the business grew, and processes became more complex in order to adapt to market dynamics and regulatory requirements especially during COVID-19, PPPGC realized the company had to transform and adopt technology innovations to become more sustainable.

Mr. Chaitasn Wanchai, Chief Executive Office, PPPGC said: “Finding a way to strengthen and develop Thailand's palm oil industry by increase productivity and profitability of the palm oil industry sustainably has always been our priority. We believe that the greatest way to achieve greater productivity and reduce environmental impact is through operational efficiency.”

“Prior to this, most of our operations were handled manually and in silos. We need a single source of truth for management to make informed decisions quickly, as information was scattered everywhere. We did not have good visibility of the company's performance. The goal was to streamline and unify operations and data.” Chaitasn explained.

With the recent go-live of SAP S/4HANA, the SAP's intelligent ERP software, PPPGC has fully integrated corporate information for real-time decision-making and analytics. According to Chaitasn, the company's operations are now more streamlined, and processes have been further optimized.

"SAP S/4HANA is an important step in our digital business transformation strategy. With a strong ERP platform, PPPGC can now improve our operating standards and procedures to be in line with international ones. We can also use consistent data analytics to ensure one source of truth, automate our work processes, increase value chain transparency, assess our business in real-time, and ensure both producing and sourcing sustainable palm oil continue to be on top of our business agenda."

Fujitsu was appointed to be working with PPPGC on the implementation of SAP S/4HANA. Ms. Kanokkamon Laohaburanakit, Head of Sales of FUJITSU (THAILAND) CO., LTD. said: “Fujitsu's extensive SAP experience would allow PPPGC to closely integrate its SAP S/4HANA environment on Microsoft Azure cloud to enable advanced analytics capabilities, machine learning and data science to streamline supply chain, procurement, production, finance and sales functions. Through investment in a new IT platform based on SAP S/4HANA, PPPGC is now ready for the future growth with the ability to provide new and improved business models and services for their customers."

Mr. Atul Tuli, Managing Director, SAP Indochina said: “SAP is sharing the same vision with PPPGC to deliver a sustainable industry solution to create huge efficiencies for the industry, the planet, and society. Considering the highly regulated, rigid industry PPPGC operates in, we are glad that PPPGC was able to move its total workloads to the cloud in just 6 months, leading to a sharp increase in operational efficiency. SAP is extremely proud that PPPGC has selected SAP to begin their journey into becoming an intelligent enterprise.”
